Description
1. What was your first impression when viewing the photo?
My first impression upon viewing this picture is the play on reflections the photographer does due to the water mirage with create a mirror like effect of the terrain.
2. What does the work look like to you?
The work for me looks like an artist that is very meticulous, that works with texture and symmetry in urban settings
3. What is the subject of the photo?
The reflection of the palm trees
4. What textures, colours, and shapes are there?
The most aggressive texture of the picture comes from the turf of the tennis court that is rugged and is magnified by the water. Other the other texture that I do take into my mind when I see this picture is the clean surface that the water ponds provide to the picture which makes for a very aggressive contrast.
5. What about line, forms and space?
The line of the picture is directed by the vertical lines of the tennis court, which leads you to the point of focus in the picture that is the middle palm tree. This picture has a lot of space because the lines allows it to have depth and the forms in the picture are mainly lines and equidistant vertical structures (the palm trees) vertical lines in the tennis court and the fence pattern all are vertical lines with symmetry and equal distance
Analysis:

What stands out and draws your eye in this photo
The water reflection is what stands out to me it provokes a mirror image of the center of the picture which are the palm trees.

How is the photograph organized in terms of design elements (line, space, etc)
We can organize this picture into three equal parts each part with a palm tree. Each of these parts have a pond where light is reflected and vertical lines from the tennis court which provide a lot of depth in the picture the picture is very organized and that creates a sense of tranquility and quietness in the picture

What about contrast, rhythm, balance, proportion?

The rhythm is serene, because of the aspects of the picture and that they represent a sense of tranquility the rhythm is also in accordance to this. The picture is balanced there is a division of this in the pictures naturally made by the palm trees which also brings proportions to the picture in this natural division no other part is out weight by the other, they are symmetrical the focus point and the strongest focus is in the middle palm tree which attracts most of the attention.

Interpretation

    What is the photo about

This picture is about the tranquility that has the end of the storm. The serenity and the purifying effect that a rain shower has over a place.
What is the message of the photographer?
The message is the tranquility that it arrises in what can be a chaotic and busy place like a urban tennis court after a storm. The noiseless and tranquil place that is a man made place without men.

Does the photo have a purpose?
I believe that the purpose of the picture is to make us realise that there is serenity and tranquility everywhere, we just have to wait for the right moment, like the aftermath of  a rain shower and

What feelings do you get from the photo?
I get to a feeling of tranquility and the serenity, the smell of fresh bloomed flowers and the being alone in a place where it is usually very crowded

Does it remind you of something?
It reminds me of the rainy days on summer camp where you couldn't go out and play tennis, and then all of a sudden you can go outside because the rain has stopped and going out and mopped the tennis court in order to play as fast as I can

Evaluation

Did your first impression change, and why?

My first impression did change because at first glance I only took notice the mirror effect the water pond created. And now I focus more on what the picture represent and the emotional reaction that I have when I see the picture.
Do you think it is a successful photo?
I believe it is a successful picture, it is has a clear balance, it has texture contrast , it has a clear focus point and it provoke an emotional reaction from the viewer.

    Is it unique?
I believe that there is a uniqueness in the moment, the stillness of the surrounding and the lack of activity in the court as well as there is no activity or humans in the background, everything is at a standstill. I believe that to that extend there is a uniqueness to the picture

    Could you do it better?

I believe that the photographer did the picture with the purpose of portraying the standstill of the scenery in a symmetrical and balanced picture, because of that I believe he managed to do the best he could.
Can you readily understand the subject matter, and do the design elements (space, form, line, shape, color, texture) help you to do so? The depth and the the vertical lines in the picture the contrast in texture and the urban setting without any human and the sky opening up to the sun allows us to understand the subject matter in question, the symmetry that is obviously manmade both the tennis court and the garden and the lack of humans makes us understand the serenity and the subject in the picture.

Was the photo well planned, in your opinion?
I believe the picture was opportunistic because it is quite hard to control urban settings but it was well developed, structured and taken.

Would you buy it or hang it in your home?
yes.

Have you learned anything that you could apply to your own photography?

I believe that this picture was very well structure but it was opportunistic, I can learn that in order to make the best of this small windows of opportunity I have to subjectively always be prepared to take a picture because the subjects that I would want to express might appears out of the blue so I should be always prepared and on the look for interesting settings for to pictures
    Does the photo inspire you?
Yes, because it shows that peace and serenity can be achieve even in the most chaotic and noises place and that can be transcend to a more universal topic that I consider inner peace.
